William & Mary Convocation Programs

Background

Convocation is an annual event that formally welcomes new students into the university. It typically happens in late August, and being in Williamsburg, VA… it’s hot outside.

The W&M Admissions team had to idea to turn the programs into fans. They were thinking along the lines of the 2-sided popsicle-stick fans often seen at summer weddings, but given the amount of content these programs had to contain, I knew this would be a challenge. So, I came up with a more innovative solution.

The shape of the programs mirrors the shape of the class banner that hangs from the balcony. The four pages were joined by a rivet at the bottom, holding them securely in place and allowing them to fan out.
